Orange Congregational Church Orange Congregational Church Orange, CT Orange, CT Part-time Part-time $26 - $29 an hour $26 - $29 an hour 1 day ago 1 day ago 1 day ago Office Administrator Orange Congregational Church, United Church of Christ Summary The Office Administrator is responsible for supporting the ministry and mission of the congregation by accomplishing tasks associated with day-to-day church operations and workflow.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
word processing, reception, record-keeping, mailing, operating and maintaining office equipment, coordinating building use, and maintaining calendar.
Be a source of welcome and hospitality to all who interact with the church.
This position reports to the Pastor but has a high amount of interaction with other church staff, church leaders, boards, committees, members, and visitors.
General Duties Provide administrative support and work in collaboration with church staff, boards and committees.
Serve as the primary contact for reception, answering phones, handling mail, greeting visitors, and responding to email.
Administer church record-keeping and the church database software to maintain current information about church members, prospective members and visitors.
Use the database to prepare lists, reports, and mailings.
Gather/assemble/reformat contributions from church staff and members for printed weekly bulletins, newsletters, and other documents as needed to support Sunday worship services, baptisms, memorial services, weddings, annual report, and other church events and activities.
Assemble bulk mailings.
Maintain mailing equipment, supplies and postage.
Maintain the church calendar incorporating staff activity, church events, meetings, and other dates.
Coordinate with service and repair providers, and other vendors.
Revise and update procedure manual to reflect on-going method of organizing and completing tasks.
Participate in denominationally sponsored and wider-church educational opportunities and training for church office personnel, in coordination with Pastor and other leaders.
Occasional participation in churchwide events.
Represent the core values, beliefs, and vision of OCC.
Requirements and Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification required.
Administrative office experience strongly preferred.
Highly skilled and self-motivated computer and office technology user:
Proficiency required in a variety of computer programs; word processing (MS Word), database management for church record-keeping, electronic spreadsheets (Excel), computer list management, and electronic communications (email).
Knowledge of Constant Contact or other CRM helpful.
Familiarity with navigating websites, online calendars and social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
).
Demonstrated communication skills, both verbal and written.
Self-motivated, organized, able to prioritize and manage multiple projects occurring at the same time, and work independently.
Ability to maintain a welcoming, courteous and helpful demeanor.
Work cooperatively with church staff and all congregants.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Experience in a Congregational/UCC church environment is a plus.
Work Schedule and Basis of Compensation This is non-exempt, part-time, hourly position.
The position averages 20- 25 hours per week and supports office hours of 9:
30 AM to 1:
30 PM , Mon-Fri.
Regular office hours will be established in coordination with the Pastor.
Additional hours may be required based upon church season and/or events (for instance, during Lent, Easter, Advent, and Christmas).
