As part-time Sales Representative for L.L.Bean in the Orange, CT outlet store you''ll be joining one of the most respected retailers in the country. We will entrust you to maintain L.L.Bean tradition and image and provide superior customer service to our customers. You will have the opportunity to provide leadership and build your knowledge of all store functions. Your energy, adaptability and skills will help us bring the L.L.Bean brand to life within our store.
Position Purpose:
Provides world-class customer service within one or more outdoor gear/apparel departments and/or one or more focus areas. Acts as steward of the L.L.Bean brand, operates in a professional manner, engages customers, maintains store standards and supports teamwork. Possess and utilize a breadth of services levels, product knowledge and store functionality appropriate for a retail store, and can flex responsibilities according to business needs.
Job Tasks:
Supports stores within one or more specific areas of focus:
Sales:
Aware of customer activity and responds with a sense of urgency, prioritizing assisting customers over other tasks
Approaches customers proactively and assists in merchandise selection by explaining product benefits, ensuring product
fit/appropriateness and offering alternative/complementary products.
Promotes products while on sales floor.
Educates customers on our multi-channel product availability and assists in placing orders for items not available in store.
Assists coworkers in answering product questions.
Cash:
Aware of customer activity and responds with a sense of urgency, prioritizing assisting customers over other tasks
Operates Point of Sales (POS) terminal and maintains cash accountability.
Captures appropriate customer information (Zip code, e-mail address) during sales transactions.
Processes and promotes sales transactions at register banks for merchandise, gift certificates and services (ODS Walk-On
programs, repairs, returns, licenses) by accepting various types of payment (e.g. cash, check, credit card, Outdoor
Advantage Program OAP coupons, gift cards and in-store credit).
Researches/answers/handles customer inquiries relative to product availability, store-only items, services and company
information; processes necessary paperwork or on-line transactions.
Explains and enforces the 100% satisfaction guarantee and return policy.
Remains aware of, and achieves, sales and service goals.
Stock:
Receives, processes, sorts & transfers merchandise from stock area to sales floor displays
Prepares merchandise for floor or liquidation (e.g. tagging/retagging, restocking, verifying prices, processing damaged
stock)
Knows merchandise locations to monitor stock levels and to provide customer assistance
Maintains appropriate stock levels and ensures all styles and sizes are represented
Organizes & manages back stock and assists in maintaining store order (e.g. recovering, store moves, fitting rooms).
Health and Safety Requirement: Ensures compliance with the L.L.Bean comprehensive Health and Safety program by knowing and following all safety guidelines, policies, procedures and expectations. Takes immediate and appropriate action to rectify any unsafe conditions.
Retail experience preferred
Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
Good communication skills
Good selling skills
Familiarity with visual merchandising standards
Familiarity with store operations policies & procedures
Demonstrated passion for customer service
Ability to work in a team environment
Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
Ability to effectively maneuver around sales floor and stockroom
Outdoor product knowledge.
Ability to work a variable schedule including nights and weekends

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
