Vehicle Description The Alfa Romeo 1900 is certainly one of the most legendary Alfas of all time.
The 1900 was Alfa Romeo's first all new postwar model and featured a number of innovative features including unit chassis, and dual overhead cam inline-4 with hemispherical combustion chambers and aluminum alloy cylinder head.
While most examples were sedans, a handful of special bodied 1900 C Sprint and Super Sprint (CS and CSS) coupes were built, weighing several hundred pounds less and featuring stylish bodies by coachbuilders such as Bertone, Castagna, Touring, Vignale, and Zagato.
The CSS was differentiated by its twin Solex carburetors and floor-shifted 4-speed manual transmission.
This particular car is a late production 3rd series example wearing Touring's Tipo 3 5-window coupe body.
The lines of this completely aluminum body are really beautiful and proportionally appealing with a low roofline and very crisp but subtle details along the fenders and rockers.
The shapes of the front and rear fenders are especially beautiful and the grille is very appealing.
Most importantly, this car has very good history.
It was sold new in Chicago, USA and spent most of its life there.
The most recent ownership being of over 30 years in England and now its back home in the United States.
The engine is the original matching numbers engine to this car and has been fully rebuilt.
The Solex carburetors and original 4 speed transmission make driving an absolute pleasure.
The restoration is outstanding with paint and brightwork finished to a very high level.
Overall, this is a very wonderful 1900CSS with great coachwork that is eligible for all vintage rallies and events including the Mille Miglia and would certainly be ideal for it.
Complete with spare and original tool kit.
