Vehicle Description Offered here is an amazing all original 1926 Stutz AA victoria that we recently found here in Connecticut with just 20,000 original miles from new.
It is an amazing car with great provenance and amazing documentation back to day 1! This car was used as the show chassis for Stutz at the 1926 Boston auto show to showcase the new Safety Stutz chassis (first overhead cam eight cylinder model for Stutz).
It has 4 wheel hydraulic brakes, double dropped low frame for a low center of gravity and a worm drive rear axle to allow the driveshaft to be lowered.
It is also the first production car to have safety glass hence the name Safety Stutz.
The chassis was purchased off of the show stand by Cesar B.
Litterio who was a famous camshaft grinder from Providence, Rhode Island.
He and his brother were referred to as the Isky of the East.
They made cams for race cars and most famously for the flathead Ford engines which were used in hot rods and race cars.
After purchasing the chassis Cesar purchased a body (by Brewster of New York), hood, fenders and gauge cluster through the Boston Stutz dealer and had them assemble the car.
It is completely documented with the original purchase order from Stutz to Mr.
Litterio as well as numerous telegrams, letters on Stutz letterhead and even checks used to pay for the car! It also comes with old titles and bills of sale documenting the cars provenance.
It's just amazing.
In one of the letters it refers to this as the Show Chassis.
Mr.
Litterio would keep this car until a year before his death when he sold it to a collector also from Providence, Rhode Island:
John F.
White.
A bill of sale is included documenting this transaction.
Mr.
White kept the car until his death and now the car is here.
It has recently been treated to a brake service as well as a mechanical service and it runsd and drives superbly.
It's just fantastic.
If you are looking for an amazing car for preservation, it doesnt get much better than a Stutz with a great provenance, low mileage and a great looking body by Brewster.
