Introduced to the world in 1953 with a fiberglass body and mechanicals similar to the rest of the Chevrolet line; a straight six cylinder overhead valve engine with upgraded triple side draft carburetors.
It was a sleek two seater unlike anyone had experienced before for an American production car.
It was an instant hit and today the Corvette is even more popular than ever.
The very first iteration of the Corvette is considered by many to be the most beautiful design for the Corvette and certainly one of the most sought after versions of the legendary American sports cars by collectors today.
Offered here is most likely one of the best early low mileage examples of the famous Corvette; a 1954 model with the Blue Flame 235 cubic inch engine with triple side draft carburetors and just 1,600 original miles from new.
Purchased new in 1954 by a Mr.
McKee of Rhode Island where the car would stay until his passing when the car would pass to Rhode Island car collector Lou Read.
During the cars first ownership with Mr.
McKee he did have it painted once and Mr.
Reid installed a new convertible top, but the rest is factory original.
According to Lou Reads son, Shaun, the mileage is absolutely correct.
Today the car shows extremely well with beautiful original chrome, upholstery and details that only a great original example would have.
It has recently been treated to a service including a carburetor cleaning and adjustment.
It runs and drives really nicely and is ready to be a part of a great collection and enjoyed.
