Vehicle Description Bill Mitchell, who had been with General Motors since 1937, was responsible for many great designs beginning with the 1938 Cadillac Sixty Special.
He became head of the design department at General Motors in the 1960's and was responsible for many of the most iconic designs to come from GM including the 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado.
Besides E.

Cords front wheel design of the 1930's, front wheel drive in an American car was seen as impractical, especially on a car with an engine larger than 2 liters.
But, Oldsmobile showed the world how fantastic front wheel drive could be.
A front wheel drive unit was designed for the 1961 Thunderbird by Frederick Hooven, but it was voted as too costly.
However, Hoovens design lived on and was installed in the 1966 Toronado and then in the Cadillac Eldorado in 1967.
It was a revolutionary design because it placed the transmission beside the engine making a much smaller package.
With Bill Mitchells amazing body design and Hoovens front wheel drive unit, the '66 Toronado was incredibly popular and one of the best looking cars of its time.
Offered here is an incredibly nice 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado deluxe coupe that has had only two owners from new.
Finished in its original and very handsome color of Autumn Bronze with a black interior this Toronado is really sharp.
A really straight car, the undercarriage is clean and it has just been serviced and is in tip top mechanical condition as well.
The 425 cubic inch V8 runs great and the automatic transmission shifts as it should.
Being a deluxe model it is equipped with power steering, power brakes, bucket seats and air conditioning.
If you are looking for a really nice '66 Toronado then this car should certainly be considered.
